Sherex Fastening Solutions highlights that its new, innovative round body rivet nut, Optisert®, offers superior strength, performance, and increased spin-out performance over typical, standard round body rivet nuts.
Sh erex explains that what’s unique about Optisert® is the proprietary combination of an engineered knurled body and underhead diamond wedge design, which gives the rivet nut superior grip and helps avoid it from easily spinning in the base material. In fact, Optisert®’s strength and grip in avoiding it from spinning out is almost as great as using a full body hexagonal rivet nut. Titanium Nuts
“The spin-out performance of an M6 Optisert®, in 3mm thick aluminium, has been tested at 18.52Nm,” reports Sherex. “Similar wedged, round body rivet nuts installed in aluminium material have a spin-out test of 12.8Nm – meaning Optisert® provides a 44% performance improvement.”
The patent-pending closed-end design of the Optisert® also provides a sealed option that does not compromise the biting effect of the wedges, delivering superior performance to other round-body, closed-end rivet nuts in the market. Both the open end and closed-end sealed Optisert®’s are proven to meet Class 8 and Grade 5 thread proof load.
“The reason behind the development of Optisert® was to have a superior round body rivet nut for softer materials like composite, plastic and aluminium,” mentions Sherex. “As more manufacturers look for light weighting solutions, Optisert® provides an increase in spin-out performance in those materials compared to any other rivet nut on the market.”
Sherex adds: “Providing a closed-end sealed option keeps viscous materials and dust out, while not sacrificing performance – as the wedges and knurls are still able to bite into the base material. There are currently a few wedge head, knurled rivet nuts on the market, but Optisert® beats them in performance testing, including spin-out. There are currently no other closed-end sealed options, as part of a standard catalogue line, that provides the performance Optisert® does. That is why we believe there is no better performing round body rivet nut on the market today than Optisert® – the new standard in rivet nuts.”
